Conway Altom, 92, of Searcy, died July 20, 2012 at the White County Medical Center. He was born March 2, 1920 in Floral, Arkansas a son of the late Elmer and Pearl Altom.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 and later the U. S. Air Force and retired in 1967. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Bald Knob.
Survivors include his wife of almost 69 years, Irma Jean (Louks) Altom; son, Donald Altom (Dianna) of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; granddaughter, Katherine Altom of Alexandria, Virginia; sister, Lois Rudesill of Modesto, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jason Altom; sisters, Gladys Altom, Aileen Elmore and Alma Jean Baker; brothers, Alvin and Hersey Altom.
Services will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Paul Reams and Bro. David Crouch officiating. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery by Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia. Memorials can be made to the Shady Grove Cemetery Association.
