Vernon 'Vern' Dwayne Nelson, age 64, of Forrest City, died suddenly and unexpectedly Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at Baptist East in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born October 21, 1939, in Bruno, Minnesota, to Edwin and Nina Henson Nelson. He was owner and operator of Vern's Auto Service and Repair in Forrest City. Not only was Vern a great mechanic, but a fine friend to all. Mr. Nelson was also a member of the Oak Hill Church of God in Forrest City. He was preceded in death by one brother, Don Nelson. Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife, Cindi; a daughter, Amber Jeanene; and a son, Cory Nelson, of the home (where great love and happiness did abound); two sons, Steven Michael Nelson of Iowa and Dwayne Nelson of Montana; a daughter, Charmaine Nelson Rose of Pittsburg, Penn; three brothers, Lyle and Harry Nelson of Texas and Larry Nelson of Minnesota; two sisters, Barbara Fonders of North Dakota, and Dode Nelson Molgaard of Minnesota; and two grandchildren.Visitation for Mr. Nelson will be Friday evening, January 30, 2004, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Oak Hill Church of God.Funeral services for Mr. Nelson will be Saturday morning, January 31, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., at the Oak Hill Church of God with Bro. William Witcher officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
