Mr. Allen A. 'Gus' Colvin, age 98, of Forrest City, died Monday at the Forrest City Medical Center in Forrest City. He had been in poor health for the past three months.
Mr. Colvin was born January 1, 1915, in Hamilton, Alabama, and was the son of John Wesley Colvin and Georgia Ann Palmer Colvin.
He lived in St. Francis County most all of his life, was a mechanic, and attended the House Ministries in Forrest City.
Mr. Colvin married Lillian Luallen Goodwin in 1936, and she preceded him in death in 2003.
He is survived by one daughter, Georgia 'Janet' O'Tinger, of Crawfordsville, four sons; Raymond L. Colvin of Brownsville, Texas, Leonard D. Colvin, Carl A. Colvin, and Hubert Ira Colvin, all of Forrest City, one brother, Lawrence Colvin of Forrest City, thirty grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
He had four sons; Ricky Colvin, John Colvin, William Colvin, and Vernon Colvin, all preceded him in death.
Services for Mr. Colvin will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 2:00 P.M., Thursday, with burial in Forrest Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Lillian 'Dixie' Goodwin Colvin, age 83, of Forrest City, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.Mrs. Colvin, born Sept. 25, 1920, in Parkin, married Augustus 'Gus' Colvin in 1936 and he survives her.Mrs. Colvin was born Sept. 25, 1920, in Parkin, the daughter of Lee Goodwin and Lou Spradley Goodwin. She lived in St. Francis County most of her life, was a housewife and attended the Forrest City Church of God.Mrs. Colvin married Augustus 'Gus' Colvin in 1936 and he survives her along with four sons, Raymond L. Colvin of Brownsville, Texas, Leonard Darrell Colvin, Carl A. Colvin and Ira Colvin all of Forrest City; a daughter, Georgia 'Janet' O'Tinger of Crawfordsville, 30 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four children, Richard 'Ricky' Allen Colvin, John Edward Colvin, William Earnest Colvin and Vernon Walter Colvin.Visitation for Mrs. Colvin will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mrs. Colvin will be held at the Forrest City Church of God, at 3:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.
