Henry J. Ruesewald, 83, of Helena, Arkansas passed away Monday, October 27, 2008, at Helena Regional Medical Center. Mr. Ruesewald was born November 19, 1924 in Weiner, Arkansas to Henry Francis Ruesewald and Ethel Jane Banfield Ruesewald.
Mr. Ruesewald was a member of the New Beginnings Church in West Helena. He was affectionately known as “Mr. Greasy” and he volunteered at the Helena Regional Medical Center. He served in the Korean War. He was also assistant troop leader of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 55 at Barton, Arkansas.
Mr. Ruesewald is survived by two daughters, Lyn Toney and husband, Steve, of Wabash, Arkansas, and Melanie Kummer and husband, Dale, of Lexa, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Julie Toney, Wesley Toney, Matthew Kummer and Katie Kummer; two sisters, Rita Chadwick and husband, Doyle, of Saugatuck, Michigan, and Nancy Ann Whitton of Melbourn, Florida; and a brother, John Herman Ruesewald and wife, Beverly, of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Ruesewald; and a sister, Mary Lynn.
The family requests memorials be sent to the New Beginnings Church, 554 S. 7th Street, West Helena, AR 72390 or DeSoto School, P. O. Box 2807, West Helena, AR 72390.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Roller-Citizens Chapel with Reverend Audie Richardson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena, Arkansas. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Roller-Citizens.
