Elmo Browning, of 225 Colonial Court in Little Rock, AR, age 93, a retired attorney and owner/broker of Browning Forest Products died on February 23, 2010. He was born in McCrory, AR, to his parents, John and Lola Browning. He was educated in the public schools of McCrory and Augusta, AR. He graduated from Arkansas Tech College in 1937 (pre-law) and received his law degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1941. Elmo was a veteran of WWII, having served 6 years,7 months and 13 days in the U. S. Army 206 CA;142FA post ordinance dept. and U. S. Air Force Pilot. He was very interested in the youth of Woodruff County and assisted dozen of students to receive college education by helping to defer college expenses. Elmo strongly supported the Methodist Church in his home county as well as his church in Little Rock, Pulaski Heights Methodist. He is survived by one son, Bill Browning. He was preceded in death by his wife, Oleta Plant. Graveside services will be held at Shady Grove Cemetery, in Bald Knob, AR at a later date. Memorials may be made to Pulaski Heights Methodist Church, Little Rock or AR Tech University in Russellville. Mr. Browning was a firm believer in “What you leave behind, is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
