Husband of Virginia Bass West
Mr. Lester Eugene West, 74, of Steele, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital ini Hayti. Born in Nettleton, MS to the late William Curtis "W.C" and Dona Scrivner West, he was an area resident for most of his life. He was a past merchant and used car dealer and also the past owner of West Grocery in Steele. He was a member of the Boon's Chapel Church of Christ iin Steele and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country during the Korean War. He was an avid hunter, especially squirrel hunting, and also enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Larry Wayne Adams, two brothers, Stanley West and Charles West, and three sisters Marie Heflin, Polly McGuire and Laverne Pearson.
Mr. West leaves his wife, Virginia Bass West of Steele; One daughter, Judy Horton and her husband, Ronnie, of Steele;
Three grandchildren, Michael Horton and his wife, Brooke of Kennett, Laura Lynn and her husband, Jon, of Blytheville and Julie Adams of Steele. Four great grandchildren, Matthew Horton and Stephen Horton of Kennett of Olivia Lynn and Brody Lynn of Blytheville; and One sister, Dean Brice and her husband, Louie, or Sacramento, CA.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cobb Funderal Home in Blytheville with Mr. Michael Horton and Mr. Ronnie Horton officiating.
