Jack Paul Buice took his final journey home on May 30, 2013, with his loving daughter by his side. He was born in Grubbs, Arkansas and spent most of his life in Judsonia, Arkansas. He joined the United States Navy before he was actually old enough, to join his 4 older brothers in service during World War II. He later served in the United States National Guard and was a Mason. In recent years he moved to Pearland, Texas to be near his family. Jack grew up in the Judsonia Methodist Church, where his parents were founding members, and transferred his membership to Cokesbury United Methodist Church when he moved to Texas. "Poppa Jack" was a kind, sweet man – most often described as a big teddy bear. He was a real cowboy fan, loving to watch rodeos and the Western channel day and night. He and his daughter "Mandy Kay" had a very special and close relationship. He taught her how to hunt and fish, drive a car, ride and show horses, and to love life – he recently said "Every day I wake up is a good day". He spend his last years on his little "ranch" in Texas caring for his pet pigmy goat "Baby Girl", watching the horses at the stable next door and the small planes flying at the little airport nearby.

He is preceded in death by the mother of his child, Mildred Hollingsworth Tynes, his parents, Ernest and Minnie Buice, four brothers: Bard Buice, E. L. Buice, Bill Buice, and James Buice.

He is survived by his only child, Amanda Kay Buice Lohec, son-in-law, Larry Lohec, and only grandchild Savannah Arianna Rosamond Lohec, one brother Charles Buice, and 6 nieces and nephews.

For those desiring, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to the Judsonia United Methodist Church or Cokesbury United Methodist Church. The visitation will be at Cokesbury UMC, 10030 Scarsdale Blvd, Houston, TX 77089 on Saturday, June 1st from 3 to 4 p.m. The funeral will follow on Saturday, June 1st at 4:00 p.m. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Judsonia United Methodist Church on Monday June 3rd, at 5:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Judsonia, Arkansas. Local arrangements entrusted to Powell Funeral Home Bald Knob-Judsonia.
