Miss Thelma Louise Cathey, 92, of Blytheville, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Heritage Square Nursing Center in Blytheville. Born in Blytheville to James Montgomery and Pearl Daisy Pankey Cathey, she was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church. Miss Cathey began her teaching career in the Reece community, and was a longtime Special Education teacher for Blytheville Public Schools, from which she retired.
She was a member of the Arkansas Education Association, the National Education Association and Delta Kappa Gamma.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Barton Cathey, James W. Cathey, Willis Cathey and Victor Cathey; and her sisters, Jane Jackson and Mildred Smith.
Miss Cathy leaves her sister, Ann Bodi, of Memphis;
A nephew, Bill Cathey and his wife, Jerrilyn, of Blytheville; and
Several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville with Mr. Duane Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday at Cobb Funeral Home.
