BELLA VISTA — Jimmie "Jim" E. Kirby, 66, of Bella Vista died Jan. 15, 2004, at St Mary's Hospital in Rogers. He was born May 3, 1937, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to William R. and Eva Finch Kirby. He served in the Illinois National Guard for 12 years. He was employed by the Postal Service from 1957 to 1993 as a clerk. He was a safety engineer and operations manager in Chicago, Ill., and Waukesha, Wis. He was a member of several bowling leagues. He retired to Bella Vista in September 1993 from Wisconsin. He was a charter member of Highland Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Bella Vista, was a member of the diaconate and was past president of the Christian Men's Fellowship. He was preceded in death by one stepson, John Cataldo Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Betty Kirby of Bella Vista; one son, Keith Kirby of Atlanta, Ga.; four daughters, Cheri D. Kirby of Houston, Texas, Lea Kirby, Daphne Kirby and Melanie Robles and husband Alfredo, all of Chicago; one brother, George Kirby of Chicago; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at Highland Christian Church with Paul Seal officiating.
Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Highland Christian Church, P.O. Box 3016, Bella Vista, 72715.
