Son of Jackson Underwood and Mary Alice Brotherton. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavon Thompson and his son, Paul Terrance Underwood.
His is survived by two daughters, Gina Maestri and husband David and JoAnn Watts; two sisters, Margie Blankenship and Mildred Casey; a brother, Albert Underwood; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Lavon Underwood, 73, of Lavaca, Ark., will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston, Ark., with the Rev. Jack Masterson officiating. Burial will be in Island Cemetery, east of Lavaca, under the direction of Smith Mortuary in Charleston.
Mrs. Underwood was born April 10, 1925, in Ozark, Ark., to Sam and Alfe (Reeves) Thompson. She died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at her home.
Survivors include her husband, Paul "Pete" Underwood of the home; two daughters, JoAnn and Gina; one son, Paul T.; three sisters, Deloris, Lillian and Pat; three brothers, Thurman, Jack and Bob; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
