SPRINGDALE - Viola Mae Spencer Blalock, 82, of Springdale died March 23, 1999, at a local hospital. She was born July 6, 1916, in Booker, Texas, to Charley Grover and Freida Lena Winters Thrasher. She was a nurse's aide and a member of the Forever Young Club and Silent Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl B. Spencer, in 1986, three brothers.

Survivors include her husband, James Blalock of Springdale, to whom she was married July 2, 1988; one stepson, Ralph Blalock of Kansas City, Mo.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ethel Smith and Henry of Ulysses, Kan., Patsy Caroline Harp and Gladys Harp and Phillip, all of Springdale; two stepdaughters, Ruth Duncan and Rhonda West, both of Springdale; one sister, Opal Damron of Moore, Okla.; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Sisco Chapel in Springdale with the Rev. James Criswell officiating. Burial will be in Sonora Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons William Paul Harp, Bobby Tolbert Harp, Phillip Gerald Harp Jr., Henry Raymond Smith Jr., Carl Frando Harp and Glen Galloway.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Samuelson, David Decker, A.W. Lewis, Guy Lloyd, and J.C. Webster.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. today at the funeral home.
