Bert Mitchell

William “Bert” Mitchell, age 99, of Yellville, Arkansas passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Twin Lakes Nursing Center in Flippin, Arkansas.

Bert was born January 26, 1915 in Round Timber, Texas. He was the son of the late James Henry and Annie (Rippstein) Mitchell. Bert was a retired farmer. He and his brothers operated the family farm south of Yellville on Shawnee Cave Road for many years. When Bert was able he could always be seen at the Yellville-Summit Basketball games.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Those who live locally are: Billie Fern Phillips, Marie Davis, Gaynell Sasser, Ed Welch, Jim Welch, and Pinky Welch. He was preceded in death by five brothers: Forrest Mitchell, Merritt Mitchell, Elbert Mitchell, Melvin Mitchell, and Robert Mitchell; and two sisters: Ruth Welch and Velma Johnson.

Funeral service will be at Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church near Yellville, on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 11:00 am with Bro. Fred Goodall officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Fred Welch, Jake Kelley, Clayton Welch, Larry Phillips, Sammy Phillips, and Cody Burrow.
