A Funeral Service for Leonard Kellem of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 16, 2014, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Jimmie Snow officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
Leonard passed away February 12, 2014, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 88. He was born July 23, 1925, in Lakeview, Arkansas, the son of William and Helen Kuehner Kellem. He married Betty Jo Duggins on May 23, 1948 at Buford, Arkansas and was a painter and farmer. Leonard was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifetime resident of the Twin Lakes area. He helped to build both the Bull Shoals and Norfork Dams. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Betty Kellem; daughter, Karen (Gene) Allen; granddaughter, Rhonda Allen all of Mountain Home, AR; four sisters, Eileen Wallace of Nuevo, CA, Blanch Gilley of Tulsa, OK, Evelyn Gilley of Yellville, AR and Nadine Kellem of Mountain Home, AR; three sisters-in-law, Florean Kellem, Venita Duggins and Joyce Pitchford all of Mountain Home, AR; brother-in-law Garry (Ida) Duggins of Wideman, AR and several extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mildred Stancil and brother, John Kellem.
Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas, with Bobby Lance, Jim White, William Duggins, John Ahrens, Dean Martin and Donnie Gray as pallbearers. Don Graham and Ed Raymond will be honorary pallbearers. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard.
Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
