BELLA VISTA -- Richard E. Fidler, 67, of Bella Vista died March 10, 2004, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born July 11, 1936, in Medina, Ohio, to Albert and Emma Fidler. He was a 1954 graduate of Pataskala (Ohio) High School. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University and graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in geology. He worked for Raney Water Systems and was employed as an hydrologist with the United States Geological Survey from 1962-1992. He became a subdistrict chief in Pueblo, Colo., and district chief in Huron, S.D. He served in the Ohio Air National Guard during the Berlin crisis. He was active in the Bella Vista Presbyterian Church, the NARFE and the Men's 18-Hole Golf Association.

Survivors include his wife, to whom he was married Dec. 17, 1960; two daughters; one son; seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Presbyterian Church in Bella Vista. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home.

Private burial will be in Bella Vista Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, 72715 or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, Kan. 66601-1653.
