Johnny Edwin Swanson Sr., 71, of Batesville died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at a local hospital.

He was born December 31, 1942 in Rogers, Arkansas, the son of Edwin Leroy Swanson and Betty Ann Melvin Wilcox.

He was a veteran of the U S Navy. Johnny was a tool and die maker and before retirement with TWH Enterprises had moved up to management and engineering. He was a member and deacon at Faith Baptist Church of Batesville.

He enjoyed reading, motorcycles and playing pool, but most of all, he enjoyed his Lord, his family and his church.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Swanson of Batesville; a son, Johnny E. Swanson Jr.; a daughter, Joi Swanson Easterling; two grandchildren, Kristin Easterling and Dakin Easterling; a brother, James Leroy Swanson; and an uncle, Freddie Baggett, all of the Rogers area.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an aunt, Lorraine Baggett.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Alderbrook Cemetery in Desha with Scotty Karber officiating. Roller-Crouch Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be his immediate family members. Honorary pallbearers are the men of Faith Baptist Church.

Visitation is from 5:00-6:30 Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the funeral home.
