CAWOOD, Josephine DAM - Mrs. Josephine Cawood, wife of the late Tom Cawood, one of the pioneer merchants of Maysville, died at her home in that place Tuesday morning, November 15, 1927 after being confined to her bed for the past two months. Death was due to a complication of diseases. Funeral services were held in Maysville Wednesday afternoon with a large number of relatives and old friends present, including many from Gravette and Bentonville. Rev. E.H. Osborn, pastor of the Presbyterian church in Gravette, conducted the services. Burial was made in the Maysville cemetery. She is survived by four children, a son, Tom Cawood of Gravette and three daughters, Mrs. John Jackson of Bentonville, Mrs. Rex James of Maysville and Mrs. Opal Cravens of Miami, Okla., all of whom were present at the funeral. Mrs. Cawood was born in Maysville Dec. 24, 1852 where practically her entire life was spent. Had she lived another month she would have been 75 years old. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dam, who with the Cawood families settled in that section about 85 years ago. Mr. Cawood died about ten years ago.
