Spurgeon Reynolds, 62, lifelong resident of Madison County, died in the Springdale Memorial Hospital at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, after falling from the roof of a neighbor's home at 9:45 a.m. the same day.
Mr. Reynolds was helping Claudie Appleton a next door neighbor repair the roof of his home when he is thought to have blacked out and fallen 8 feet from the roof. His head struck a concrete curb, and he was taken to the Springdale Memorial Hospital immediately in a Brashear's Funeral Home Ambulance, where he passed away. Mr. Reynolds is reported to have suffered from high blood pressure and cause of his death had not been determined whether from the fall or from other causes.
Mr. Reynolds was born February 1, 1896 at Reynolds Mountain, the son of Jack and Belle Griggs Reynolds, and had spent his entire lifetime in Madison County.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Artie Smith Reynolds, one daughter, Mrs. Cecil Leatherbury of Huntsville; two sons, Jack Reynolds of Huntsville and Mack Reynolds of Prineville, Oregon, six grandchildren, Bill and Dale Leatherbury, Monty, Glen, Steve and Judy Reynolds; four sisters, Mrs. Pearl Easterling, Mrs. Iva Easterling and Mrs. Rosa Keck all of Huntsville; and Mrs. Alta Mullins of Fayetteville; three brothers, Fred Reynolds of Castleford, Idaho; Frank Reynolds of Whorton, Mo.; and Charlie Reynolds of Gravette, Ark.
Funeral services were conducted at the Brashears Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Burr Wiggins. Burial was in the Huntsville Cemetery with arrangements in charge of Brashears Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Ewen Easterling, Vernon Williams, Ewell Easterling, Cecil Leatherbury, Joe Boatright and Claudie Appleton.
