Son of Thomas Clark
James was born 1776 in North Carolina and died December 1848 in Washington County, Arkansas. James Clark was the son of Thomas Clark who was born in 1755. He married Agnes HENDERSON and they were the parents of 13 children.
The tombstone was found and the picture of the tombstone with J. C. on it, was taken by Ruby HOLT Vaughan in November 1969. Ruby writes: "the tombstone is made of sandstone, about 2 1/2 feet tall by one foot wide, and maybe three or four inches thick." At that time, Ruby copied the information from all of the other tombstones that she could find.
When Ruby re-visited the cemetery in November 1989, the "J. C." tombstone could not be found, and Ruby heard rumors that some of the Clark family had removed the tombstone in order to protect it...but who took it or where it is at now, is not known.
