BELLA VISTA — Bessie Brooks Van Cleve, 87, of Bella Vista died Feb. 22, 2008 at the Ashley Health and Rehab Center of Rogers. She was born July 17, 1920, in Mankato, Minn., to Frank Brooks and Mary Alice Thompson Brooks.

She was an avid birdwatcher and antique collector, and belonged to the Audubon Society, the Tears Questers, the Bella Vista Garden Club, the Polk County, Iowa, Association for Retarded Children, and numerous church groups. She was a member of the Bella Vista First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, M.L. "Van" Van Cleve; four sons, Jim Van Cleve of Claremont, Calif., Tom Van Cleve of Tucson, Ariz., Bill Van Cleve of Ankeny, Iowa, and Jerry Van Cleve of Ashland, Wis.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Bella Vista First United Methodist Church with the Revs. David Fleming and Wayne Bartruff officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, Bella Vista.
