J. J. Vanzaut Dies at Spring Valley
Springdale, Aug. 22—Funeral services for James J. Vanzant, 83, of the Spring Valley community, who died Thursday at his home, was held this afternoon at Sonora with burial in the Sonora cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in change of Callison-Riggs Funeral Home.
Mr. Vanzant was born in Washington county, Dec. 18, 1857. He was a retired farmer and had resided at Spring Valley for the past nine years.
He is survived by three sons, George Vanzant, Whittier, Calif., Dowell Vanzant, Manteca, Calif., and Walker Vanzant of Spring Valley; one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Cole, Compton, Calif., and 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Christian church and the Masonic lodge. The Masonic order held a special service at the grave.
