Irene Sliter, 85, of Bradford, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 15, 2008. She was born October 6, 1922 in Alicia, Arkansas a daughter of the late Sam and Clara Bales Brown.
Mrs. Sliter was the widow of Arthur Sliter, a wonderful homemaker and a member of the Bald Knob Church of God.
She is survived by her sons, Calvin Sliter (Margie) of Russell and Alfred Sliter of Bradford; daughters, Kathryn Taylor (John) of LaPazin, IN., Wilma Alexander (Keith) of Bradford and Linda VanWinkle (Rickey) of Bradford; sisters, Jerline Henson (James) of Bloomindale, MI. and Joyce Browning (Buddy) of Myrtle, MS.; grandchildren, Jacqueline Taylor, Steve Taylor, Terry Sliter, Glinnes Martin, Jalesia Hearyman, Rebecca Martin, Spencer Sliter, Michelle Joyner, Cody Alexander, Misty Taylor, Tammy Bradley, Jacob Sliter, Angela Schmidt, Cynthia Corbit and Stephanie Woody; 18 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Aligene Sliter; brothers, Robert, Barley and Chester Brown; sisters, Carmel Gilmore and Andrella Brown; a grandson, Gene Arthur Sliter; a great-granddaughter, Samantha Sliter.
Services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday form 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia.
