Mrs. Betsy Jane Cawood was born at Cumbon Lee County, Virginia, September 16, 1874. She departed this life March 14, 1927, having reached the age of 52 years, 5 months and four days.
She was the daughter of Jacob and Martha Crouse. She married Mr. Cawood at Mulberry Gap, Tenn., the 6th day of May 1892, and with her husband she moved to Arkansas during the year of 1902, where they have since made their home till October 4, 1920. Having been a sufferer for some years at this time they moved to Pheonix, Ariz., where they lived until the time of her death, March 14th.
There was born to this union eleven children, six boys and five girls. Of this number all are living but three; two boys and one girl having died. Besides her husband and eight children, she is mourned by her father, mother, four sisters and eight grandchildren, also many friends.
Sister Cawood was a loving and tender wife; a sympathic and indulgent mother and by her friends will always be remembered as a neighbor with a soul. She was a good Godfearing Christian, having been converted when about fourteen years of age and joined the Baptist church. A few years back with her husband she united with the Methodist church at Centerton and was a faithful servant of her Master to the time of her death.
Her going away was beautiful to behold, never once losing sight of her blessed Master she loved and trusted so much during the days of toil and suffering here in this life; her going was a real triumph over things material— it was simply "Going home." Loved one and friends, you cannot call her back but we can go to her, so let us take courage and with faith move on this heavenward journey.
