BARR, Harry - Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Barr were in Rogers yesterday on their way from Lowell back to Maysville to resume work in the school there where both are teaching. Mr. Barr says he expects to come to Rogers to live when school is out. The body of their only son, Harry Barr, who was killed last week, arrived Sunday morning at Lowell and was accompanied by J.E. Poole, secretary of the Pocatello chapter of the Brotherhood of Firemen and Engineers of which deceased was a popular member. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church and were conducted by Rev. I.M. Phillips of Westville, an old friend of the family. Interment was in the Rogers city cemetery. Mr. Poole said the accident occurred at American Falls, about 25 miles from Pocatello. It was early in the morning and Harry, who was firing, was returning from a restaurant. The train was just starting and as he grabbed for the handrail he slipped on on the ice and fell heavily to the ground. It is supposed he was stunned by the fall for instead of rolling away from the train he attempted to get to his feet and was struck by the steps of the coach and so severely injured that altho hurried to the company hospital he died at 7:20 that evening. Harry Barr was born March 7, 1894 at Grand Junction, Colo., where Mr. Barr was living on the Indian reservation in the government employ. He went west to Idaho in 1917 and was working for the Oregon Short Line R.R. when called to the army from this county. He entered Camp Pike July 22, 1918 and was assigned to the 347 Engineers at Camp Ben Harrison, Indiana where he remained until he received his discharge on December 9, 1918. Returning home he hired on the Frisco several months and last fall returned to Idaho. He was a member of the Baptist church of Lowell and his untimely death was a great blow to friends and family. Mr. Barr and family desire thru the Democrat to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the friends who were so kind and helpful to them in their hour of bereavement.
