Malcolm Ray Patterson, 91, of Lepanto, AR., died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Three Rivers Nursing Center at Marked Tree.

He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the Coast Guard. He was a Christian and a Mason with the Yellville Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Patterson graduated from the University of Arkansas where he obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees. He began his teaching career at Joiner and continued his career as a vocational agriculture teacher at Lepanto for 37 years. He was also a Future Farmers of America adviser and served as president on the Lepanto Board of Public Utilities. He also served as an instructor for Arkansas Hunter Education.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Donna Lee Patterson of the home; sons, Thomas Howard Patterson (Charlotte) of Lepanto and John Steven Patterson (Cass) of Tampa, Fla.; daughters, Julia Ann Glover (Bob) of Lepanto and Martha Jane Fires (Jackie) of Rivervale; grandchildren, Laura Jane Glover, Casey Marie Fires, Justin Lee Patterson (Brooke), Donna Rae Fires and Jordan Alan Patterson (Megan); and great-grandchildren, Julian Glover-Goldman and Edith Rose Patterson.

A private family burial was held in Potter Memorial Cemetery. Murphy Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
