Noel
Apr 16,1916-Aug 5,2009
Rev. Noel Wilson Easterling, 93, of Springdale, Arkansas went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 in Springdale. He was born April 16, 1916 in Whorton Creek of Madison County to Hosea and Florie (Burgess) Easterling.
He was a member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church. He felt the need for a church in his community so he turned a garage into a church on weekends. Later the Lord called him to preach in 1953.
The first church he pastored was Clifty Free Will Baptist Church in the Pleasant Valley community for two years. He was elected district evangelist for the Old Mt. Zion Association and served for two years.
Later he was pastor of the Clifty Free Will Baptist Church for four years then Huntsville Free Will Baptist for two years, then continued his journey to Eureka Springs, Arkansas to finish out the year when their pastor left. He then resided at Pilgrim's Rest Church for four years. There were many glorious baptizings in the Clear Creek and wonderful services at all churches.
Noel built the association building in 1960 and held the first Youth Camp in 1967. Due to the Lord's wonderful blessings there has been a camp every year since then and Noel was present for the first fifteen years and only missed one day.
Noel preached on KSPR gospel radio station in 1966 and 1340 KBRS for several years. In 1971, he started and built Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Springdale and was pastor for six years then retired and made this his home church.
Noel was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening and telling the world about the gospel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Hazel Ruth Jones Easterling; and one brother, Olen Easterling.
He is survived by his son, Wendell James Easterling and his wife Cheryl of Hindsville, Arkansas; two daughters, Glynna Dean Easterling Boone and her husband, Jack of Rolla, Missouri and Carolyn Sue Easterling Wright and her husband, Ronald of Springdale, Arkansas; a brother, Odell Easterling of Hindsville, Arkansas; three sisters, Lugene Easterling Parker, Wilda Easterling Keck and Veda Easterling Keck all of Huntsville, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Springdale, with Rev. Clark Snow officiating. Burial will follow at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Arkansas.
