Lt. Col. Ona Belle Yates, 83, of Siloam Springs died Aug. 5 at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb Feb. 4, 1905, in Red Starr, the daughter of George and Sarah Margaret Cox Yates. She was a Presbyterian, a registered nurse and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. She was a member of the American Legion in Fayetteville, the Sheldon-Tucker Post 27, the Robert Jack Post 1322, Veterans of Foreign Wars at Van Buren, Siloam Springs Chapter 60, Daughters of the American Revolution; the Retired Officers Association of Retried Persons.
Survivors include two sisters, Oma Ellen Fulmer of Siloam Springs and Madge Yates of Huntsville.
Services were today at Brashears Funeral Hoem of Huntsville with the Rev. Jim L. Durden officiating. Burial was in the Huntsville Cemetery.
