Cuthbert Earl "Hop" Elzey, 79, of Huntsville died Oct. 12, 2009, at Meadowview Healthcare and Rehab in Huntsville. He was born May 12, 1930, in Marble to Claude Earl and Bessie Waid Elzey.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie Thompson Elzey.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Huntsville Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 31, at 10 a.m. in the Huntsville Church of Christ for Mrs. Sylvia Faye Elzey, 45, who died December 29 in the Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville, following an extended illness. Nick Young, officiated.
Born November 23, 1931 at Drakes Creek, she was the daughter of Ralph and Lora Tackett Calico. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Friendship Club.
Survivors include her husband, Cuthbert Elzey, to whom she was married April 7, 1950; one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Claudette) Shrum, of Huntsville; her mother, Mrs. Eugene (Lora) Counts, of Wesley; one brother, Richard Quentin Calico, of Fayetteville; and one grandchild, Jarred C. Shrum, also of Huntsville.
Burial was in the Huntsville Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Woodrow Kimes, Arvil Hatfield, Herbert Culwell, Gary Wilson, W. R. Hart and Ernest Lewis.
