Charlie Burkett, 75, of 402 N. Polk Street, died October 29 at Springdale Memorial Hospital. He was born July 31, 1904 at Huntsville, the son of Benjamin F. and Mary Ann Cain Burkett. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church and was a carpenter.
He is survived by his widow, Ora Gibbs Burkett of the home, one daughter, Mrs. Sandra Whitely of Huntsville and two grandsons.
Funeral services were Wednesday, October 31, at 2 p.m. at the Huntsville Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Lonnie Burkes and the Rev. Eldon Bagwell officiating. Interment was in the Huntsville Cemetery with Brashears Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Wymbert Grigg, Derald Parks, Charles Gurley, Bert Mitchell, Jerry Bolinger and Ruben Bowman.
Honorary pallbearers were Warren Tackett, Virgil Stafford, Theodore Woodward, Ray White, Dillard Reeves and Frank Parker.

Mrs. Ora Mellie Burkett, 77, of 402 North Polk Street, Huntsville, Ark., died Sept. 13, 1990, at her home. She was born Oct. 3, 1912, at Kingston, Ark., the daughter of James Densmore and Kizzie J. Gibson Gibbs. She was a homemaker and a member of the Huntsville Freewill Baptist Church and the Harmony Extension Homemakers Club. She was the widow of Charlie Burkett, who preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1979.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Sandra Whiteley of Huntsville; two sisters, Mrs. Cledys Miller and Mrs. Marie Darrin, both of Alma, Wash.; two grandsons, Joseph Whiteley and Shawn Whiteley, both of Huntsville.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Spurlock and the Rev. Eldon Bagwell officiating. Interment was in the Huntsville Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Tem Dotson, X Dotson, Jerry Bolinger, Wes Fowler, Wimbert Grigg, and Bobby Whiteley. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Hargis, Artie Hatfield, and Henry Witt.
