Garland Joseph "Coody" Parson, 78, of 602 North Gaskill Street, Huntsville, Ark., died Aug. 8, 1994, at the Springdale Memorial Hospital. He was born April 22, 1916, at Loy, Ark., the son of Ray and Eliza Wharton Parson. He was a retired automobile mechanic, a retired member of the Huntsville Volunteer Fire Department, and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Vera Steele Parson of the home; two sons, Gary Wayne Parson of Jacksonville, Ark., and Mark D. Parson of Springdale; one daughter, Mrs. Jo Ellen MacLean of Huntsville; four brothers, Jesse O. Parson of Spring Valley, Hugh Parson, Ewell Parson and Quinton Parson, all of Huntsville; two grandsons, Tyler Wayne Parson of Springdale and James Bradley Moppin of Huntsville; one stepgrandson, Robert Neighbors of Jacksonville, Ark.; one stepgranddaughter, Mrs. Susan Rhone of Jacksonville; and one great-granddaughter, Miss Shannon Moppin of Huntsville.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Butch Bolinger officiating. Interment was in the Huntsville Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.

Vera Daphne Parson, 88, of Huntsville died April 23, 2010, at the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born Oct. 11, 1921, in Wharton to Joseph Harrison and Jenny Jewel Bolinger Steele.
She was a retired office manager for Madison County Hospital and Huntsville Clinic and a Baptist.
Survivors include two sons, Gary W. Parson and wife Kathe of Maumelle and Mark D. Parson and wife Zelda of Springdale; one daughter, Jo Ellen MacLean of Huntsville; three grandsons; one granddaughter; three great-grandsons and six great-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville. Burial will be in the Huntsville Cemetery.
