EVANSVILLE — Joseph Henry Griffin Jr., 82, of Evansville died Oct. 15, 2006, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born April 28, 1924, at Wellington, Texas, to Joseph Henry and Donnie Willis Griffin.

He served in the Navy during World War II and was a former 32nd-degree Mason. He was a truck driver for Willis Shaw for more than 20 years. After retiring, he worked on his farm in Evansville.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Seward.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Howland Griffin of the home; two daughters, Cindy Seward of Dutch Mills and Jan Wilhite and her husband Roger of Stilwell, Okla.; three sons, Jason Griffin and wife Kathy of Evansville, Henry Griffin and wife Carol of Richmond Hill, Ga., and Thorne Griffin and wife Belva of Stilwell, Okla.; one brother, Willis Griffin of Tulsa, Okla.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, online at www.luginbuel.com.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial at Academy Cemetery in Evansville.

Pallbearers will be Henry Griffin, Thorne Griffin, Jason Griffin, Sean Seward, Jeffrey Griffin and Nathan Griffin.
