Weiner-Calvin A. Hesse, 80, of Weiner died at his residence on Monday, Sept. 11th. Calvin was born in Ulm, Arkansas to Arthur and Lillian Hesse. He was the owner of Hesse Equipment Co. in Fair Oaks. Calvin was a navy veteran of World War II and Korean war. During World War II, he transported troops to Normandy as a LST pilot.
Calvin is survived by his wife of 39 years, Willodean Hesse of the home; three sons, Jim Hesse and Phil Hesse, both of Weiner, and Dan Hesse of Memphis; a step daughter, Linda Jean Tucker of DeSoto, MO; a brother, Jean Hesse of Stateville, NC; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Waldenburg with Rev. Anthony Oncken officiating. Burial will be in the Waldenburg Cemetery with Langford-Bookout Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge.
Active pallbearers will be J.A. Wampler, Jimmy Mack, James Duke, Mark Dennis, Kenneth Rennicke, M.A. Wallace, and Franklin Horst. The men of Zion Lutheran Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Waldenburg. Memorials may be made to the St. Bernard's Hospice or the Zion Lutheran Church.
