FAYETTEVILLE - Edward Zajicek, 81, of Fayetteville died Feb. 23, 2004, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born May 15, 1922, in Chicago, Ill., to Edward and Elizabeth Beaulu Zajicek. He was a retired railroad contractor. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Emma Zajicek of the home; four sons, David Zajicek and wife Becky of Rogers, Denny Zajicek and wife Karen of Farmington, Ben Zajicek and wife Rose of Fayetteville and Bob Zajicek and wife Rosa Lea of Bentonville; one sister, Mary Bernard of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville with the Rev. David Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Round Mountain Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
