A.D. Stroope
(March 17, 1930 - January 17, 2011)
A.D. Stroope, 80, of Hot Springs, Arkansas died Monday, January 17, 2011. He was born March 17, 1930 in Caddo Gap, Arkansas to the late Alva and Dessie Milsap Stroope.
A.D. began his career in the tire business at eighteen years of age for Firestone where he worked his way up to manager. He left Firestone to start Stroope Tire where he worked diligently for forty-two years. A.D. served his community faithfully and was a charter member of Hot Springs Baptist Church where he served as a head usher and deacon. He will be most remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Maxine Keith, and one son-in-law Mark Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Brana Lou Meredith Stroope; son – Donald Ray Stroope (Tamara); daughter – Beverly Johnson; and brother – Dennis Ray (Anna) Stroope all of Hot Springs; sisters Allene Baldwin (Bill) of Benton and Joy Hill (Clarence) of Hot Springs; grandchildren Bridget Schmidt (Paul, Jr.), Dr. Brittany Stroope, Brooke Stroope, Brandon Stroope and their mother Betty Stroope; Chad Johnson (Jennifer), Rachel Wages (Aaron), Nicholas and Zachary Henderson, great-grandchildren Carston Johnson and Presley Schmidt; many sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Hot Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Manley Beasley and Bro. Clarence Shell officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hot Springs Baptist Church Building Fund.
Pallbearers will include Paul Schmidt, Jr., Chad Johnson, Brandon Stroope, Aaron Wages, Nicholas Henderson, and Zachary Henderson. Honorary pallbearers include Hot Springs Baptist Church Ushers and Greeters, Sam Windell Class, Glen Grisham, employees of Stroope Tire, Dr. Martin Koehn, Dr. Michael Frais, Dr. Craig Price, Paul ,Sr. and Alice Schmidt, Troy Tucker, Dr. Dick Dunn, James Gossett and LifeNet.
