PRAIRIE GROVE — Jesse William Dirkhising, 13, of Prairie Grove died Sept. 26, 1999, in Rogers. He was born May 24, 1986, in Oxford, Ohio, to Tina McVey Yates. He attended Lincoln Middle School.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Tina and Miles A. Yates Jr. of the home; one brother, Chad Kidd of the home; one sister, Renea Kidd of the home; grandparents, Paula McVey of Tontitown, Dan and Murlin Sue McVey of Oxford, Miles A. Yates Sr. and Betty of Springdale, James and Judy Davis of Hindsville; great-grandparents, Kenneth Byrd of Springdale, Richard and Stella McVey of Oxford, Wanda Howard of Hindsville and Catha Yates of Springdale.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Sisco Chapel in Springdale with Keith Hamblin officiating.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Jesse Dirkhising also known as Jesse Yates was the son of Tina and Miles Yates Jr.

Jesse was murdered at the age of 13 by Davis Don Carpenter & Joshua Macabe Brown. Brown was found guilty of first-degree murder and rape. He was sentenced to life in prison, and this sentence was upheld on appeal by the Arkansas Supreme Court in September 2003. In April 2001, Carpenter pleaded guilty to similar charges and was also sentenced to life.
