Dr. Ethan Willard Dodgen, 98, of Siloam Springs died Wednesday at Dallas. He was born Dec. 2, 1904, at Westville, Okla., to John Miller and Sarah Bell Wilson Dodgen.
He was a Methodist minister, formerly serving at First United Methodist Church of Springdale and as district superintendent for the Jonesboro and Fort Smith districts. He graduated from Hendrix College and Perkins Seminary at Southern Methodist University.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Dodgen of the home; one son, Dr. John C. Dodgen of San Diego; two daughters, Mary Cochran of Dallas and Sarah Johnson of Vallejo, Calif.; one sister, Ruby Holcomb of Siloam Springs; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church of Siloam Springs. Private burial will be at Elm Springs Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Committee on Relief, 475 Riverside Drive, Room 330, New York, N.Y., 10115. Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
