Lyda Winn Busby, 97, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in a nursing home. She was born Jan. 10, 1905, in Stilwell, Indian Territory, which later became Oklahoma. She moved to Fort Smith in 1924, working for Bassham and Wheeler Architects and as a secretary for Mayor Jim Jordan. She returned to Fort Smith in 1955 after living in Mobile, Ala., for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith. She is survived by a sister, Ruth Bassham of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; four nieces, Carollyn Guidry of Dallas, Marillyn Scholl of Rancho Cucamonga, Dovie Tinsley of Fort Smith and Sue Hughes of DeRidder, La.; two nephews, Jim Winn of Fort Smith and Howard Bassham of Valey, Wash.; and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews.
