Sister Mary Olive Cote left this earth for her true home on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Born in La Baie Fevre, Canada, in 1917, Sister Olive came to Hot Springs at the age of 17 to enter the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity. She served as House Mother 28 years, working with teens, providing them a safe, secure environment. In her later years, sister would work in the garden, help with the sick sisters and instruct the younger sisters in sewing. As Sister Olive aged and needed more intense care, she was situated at Lakewood Convalescent Home where she remained for nine years.
Sister Olive was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jean Marie Cote, Brother Eloi Cote, C. F. S. and Sister Catherine Cote C.O.B. She leaves behind brothers, George Henry (Theresa), Maurice (Janine), Stanislaus (Claire) and Brother Antonius C.F. S. and the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity.
Visitation will be on Saturday at 1:00 P.M. followed by the Rosary at 1:30 P.M. Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 P.M. at the convent on 1125 Malvern Avenue.
Pallbearers are Hai Nguyen, Hanh Nguyen, Khanh Nguyen, Bao Nguyen, Martin Nguyen, and Joseph Nguyen. Honorary pallbearers are the staff at Lakewood Convalescent Home.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Hot Springs HIPPY, Lakewood Convalescent Home or charity of choice.
