Mr. Dominic Thuoc Vu, 79, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away Sunday evening, January 22, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nhiem-Chuoc Vu; sister, Do (Tu) Vu; brothers, Sinh (Lai) Vu, Quam Vu, Dang (Tin) Vu, and Nhuan (Vui) Vu; and two of his ten children, Agnes Ha Nhu Vu and Son Vu.

He is survived by his wife, Mary and eight children; daughters, Mary Thuy (Joseph) Vu-Pham of Austin, Texas, Theresa (Jonathan) Vu of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and six sons, John (Helen) Van Vu, Luke (Vicky) Vu of Austin, Texas, Rev. Jack Vu of the Diocese of Little Rock, Arkansas, Van (Trang) Vu of Garden Grove, California, Paul (Lori) Vu of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Joseph Vu, United States Navy.

Dominic was born on August 10, 1937, in North Viet Nam. In 1954, he migrated to South Viet Nam with his parents and his brothers. He served in the Army of South Viet Nam. The Fall of Saigon in 1975 eventually led to his escape from Viet Nam in 1980. In 1981, he was granted to enter and live in the United States and has resided in Arkansas since. It was through his sacrifices and efforts that his wife and six children were able to come to the United States in 1991. In 2000, his oldest child, Mary, and her family also came to the United States.

Dominic has eleven grandchildren, Dr. Mariane Pham, Dr. Teresia (Thinh Nguyen) Pham, Maria Pham, Catherine Vu, Anthony Vu, Athena, Addyson, and Jayden Vu, Blake Vu, Nathan and Brandon Vu.

Dominic lived a very simple life, cherished his family, children, and grandchildren, while sacrificing himself to provide food for the family. When his health and schedule allowed, he was there for the children and grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with an English Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m. and a Vietnamese Rosary beginning at 8:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Hot Springs.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
