SPRINGDALE — Charles Wayne Rosson, who lived most of his adult life in Northwest Arkansas, his adopted state, died Aug. 5, 2011, at Circle of Life Hospice.

Rosson was born Oct. 25, 1934, in Leon County in central Texas, to Carl and Lillie Mae Rosson. He became a disciple of Jesus Christ in 1953 and received his formal education in the Groesbeck, Texas, public schools, Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, with many years of valuable post-graduate study the University of Divine Providence.

An ordained Southern Baptist minister since 1954, Rosson served is pastor of several churches in three states, as a chaplain at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, and as an evangelist who traveled across North America and in several foreign countries before his death, which he always called the Christian's graduation to glory.

The "roving rabbi" as he was affectionately known by his many friends during his more than half-a-century of Christian ministry in the United States and around the world, loved to read, write and teach. Sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ was his supreme joy.

Survivors include his wife, Peggie, of their Springdale home; two sons, David Wayne Rosson of Tyler, Texas, and John Wayne Rosson of Beijing, China; half-brother, Bob Pelton of Groesbeck, Texas; stepdaughter, Peggy Betterton of Alma, Ark.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In accordance with his wishes and prior plans, there was no public memorial service. Private burial was at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale.
