Jim W. Tiner, age 61, died January 14, 2003, at St. Vincent Infirmary following heart surgery. He was born March 24, 1941 near Pocahontas, AR to Elmo and Alta Tiner. He married Mackie Ann Blackwood on January 26, 1963 in Corning, AR.

Survivors are his beloved wife and two sons, James Mack Tiner of Kansas and Jeffrey Lance Tiner and his wife Stephanie of Shaw AFB, Sumter, SC. Six grandchildren, Hunter, Noah and Jonah of Sumter, SC and Jamie, Jacob and Jessica of Knoxville, TN. Mother and stepfather, Alta and Waive Todd of Pocahontas, brother Jerry Tiner of North Little Rock, sister Deborah and Steve Sorg of Pocahontas, sister-in-law Madelyn Hubbard of Hot Springs Village, uncle Hite Tiner of Pocahontas and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was a member of Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church. He moved to Corning in 1959 and managed the State Theater and 67 Drive-In. In 1970 he moved to North Little Rock and became Director of the Poultry and Egg Division of the AR Livestock and Poultry Commission for several years. During this time he conducted numerous omelet fundraisers and enjoyed meeting people all over Arkansas. He was a salesman at Russell Chevrolet and for the last several years was self-employed. Jim was an avid car lover and enjoyed working in his yard and shop with his many friends and his constant companions, Mitzie and Muffin.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 17th at 1:30 p.m. at Griffin-Leggett Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, (501) 226-1692. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
