FAYETTEVILLE — Richard Steven Luhrs, 40, of Fayetteville passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, from a vehicle accident. He was born Oct. 28, 1973, in Las Vegas, Nev.

He moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1983 and was proud to call Fayetteville home. He loved duck hunting, riding around in his Jeep with the top off and meeting up with his buddies for a round of golf. He was also an avid, outspoken Hogs and Steelers fan, and anyone that knew him knows how intense he was!

Richard was passionate about helping others and saving lives. He served proudly as a firefighter and EMT over the years at the Johnson and Nob Hill Fire departments.

Richard leaves behind his 6-year-old little "pumpkin," Madison. He was the proudest father and so in love with his little girl.

He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Robin and Norman Weiss of Winslow, wife, Megan Luhrs of Springdale; six brothers and sisters, Tiffani Pollio of Plantation, Fla., Lisa Luhrs of Farmington, Kari Zink of Pea Ridge, Frankie Navarro of Fayetteville, David Navarro of West Fort and Nikki Navarro of Prairie Grove; eight nieces and nephews, Emily, Ryan, Nyle, Brayden, Mady, Kalieb, Steven and Ricky; as well as countless other family members and friends that he considered family.

Memorial services will be held Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at 1 p.m. in the activity center at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.

The family will be holding a private graveside service before the memorial service. Friends and family are welcome to drop by the family home after the services for a casual gathering.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frankie Navarro, Nyle Burgess, Kevin Guthrie, Jason Guthrie, Brian Ervin and Archie Bynum.

Cremation arrangements by Beard's Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Fayetteville.
