Steven Craig Newbrey of Melbourne, Arkansas

Steven Craig Newbrey, son of the late Grover Curtis Newbrey and Lucille Vivian Allen Newbrey, was born October 20, 1952 in Cozad, Nebraska. He departed this life November 19, 2014 at his home in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 62 years and 30 days. He spent his life as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. During his working years, he was employed for many years as an accountant in Oklahoma. After moving from Oklahoma, he worked as a fishing guide on the Norfork and White Rivers. He was united in marriage to Joyce Conrad in September 1989. He also enjoyed playing music. He played the petal steel guitar with several bands through out the country. He was of the Church of Christ faith and a member of Melbourne Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years: Joyce Newbrey of the home; one daughter: LaDonna Kay Lowe of Downs, Kansas; four stepdaughters: Tammy Vest of Rockledge, Florida, Teresa Hillsman of Newtown, Pennsylvania, Kathy Quenzer of Seattle, Washington and Amanda Stills of Melbourne; one sister: Lyla Jo Sabin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two grandchildren: Stephanie Dewey and Charity Podrybau; seven stepgrandchildren: Billy, Laura, Michelle Hillsman, Teresa Lieb, Emily and Taylor Stills and Maile Quenzer; one great grandson: Dade Michael Podrybau and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Dick Newbrey and Theadore Newbrey and one sister: Annal Jewel Newbrey (Chevez).
Funeral service will be Friday, November 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Calico Rock Funeral Chapel with Danny Brightwell officiating. Burial will be at Jones Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, November 20 from 6-8 p.m. at Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers: Jim Hillsman, Kaleo Quenzer, Michael Hickman, Mitch Conley, Dylan Baird, Phillip Conrad.
Honorary Pallbearers: John Brunner and Randall Burns.
