GAMBLE, Luther - Died, December 6th, 1909 at the family residence two miles north of Centerton, Ark., Luther Gamble, son of J.R. and Mollie Gamble; age 11 years, 2 months and 17 days. Little Luther was a manly, amiable and obedient child. He dearly loved his parents, brothers and sisters. He loved the Sabbath school and the service of the sanctuary, the sweet songs of Zion, the preacher and the preached word. As I now remember the last words he spoke to me was a kindly invitation after the services of the hour to go home with him for dinner. Early in his sickness he seemed to think that he would not get well and so expressed himself several times. Still, aside from the parting with the dear loved ones, he was not the least disturbed in view of death. As the end drew near he called the family and friends around his bed, calmly held out his hand to each of them and bid them good bye and peacefully passed, as we believe, into the world of the blessed. Many of the near neighbors who had helped to nurse and care for him in his sickness, together with a large audience from the whole community, attended his funeral service, thus manifesting their heartfelt sympathy with the sorrowing ones. The remains were laid to rest in the Centerton cemetery, there to await the will of Him who is the "resurrection and the life." May the Holy Spirit, the comforter, comfort and support the bereft and sorrowing family. P. Carnahan.
