YOUNGMAN, Sam - (from Burk's Shed) The death angel visited our community May the 29th, 1911 and took from our midst Mr. Sam Youngman, aged 23 years. Sam was stricken down with that dread disease consumption when he was just starting out in life to make a home. He and his young wife seemed to have a bright future before them but man's brightest hopes are often shattered and so his young life slowly faded away like the beautiful flowers fade from our view. He leaves a father and mother, 8 brothers and 2 sisters, an aged grandmother and a host of friends to mourn his loss. When Sam realized the end was near he requested some of his dearest friends to pray for him and sing some of the sweet songs of Zion, and when he could no longer speak in an audible voice he pointed his finger up toward heaven and told us as best he could he was going up yonder to that heavenly clime. He was laid to rest in the Morris cemetery, funeral services were conducted by Bro. W.O. Davis.
