Ray Archie Gist, age 72, of Ola,, Arkansas died Wednesday evening, August 7, at the Yell County Nursing Home. Gist was a native of Yell County and the son of J W and Francis Mingay Gist. He was a retired timber worker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Baker Gist of Ola; son Jack Gist, of Dardanelle; daughters, Mrs Betty Raney, of Ola, Mrs Wilma Coffman, of Russellville, Linda Gillham, of Little Rock, and Monnie Richards, of West Helena; step-sons, Leo Baker, of Russellville, Johnny Baker, of Ola, William C Baker, of Russellville, and J B Underwood, of Victoria, Texas; brothers, Harvey Gist, of Centerville, Elmer Gist, of Danville, and Jim Gist of California; sisters Marie McKnight, of Danville, Daisy Clark, of Dardanelle, and Fay Winifred, of Little Rock; also 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
