Mansfield "Button" Edwards, 93, of Wilmot died Saturday, August 7, 2004, at his residence. A native of Sicily Island, LA, 84, and a resident of Wilmot for 75 years, he was a retired farmer and a member of the Sweet Home Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sons, John H. Walker, Jr., of Wilmot, Havard Edwards of Chidester, Dannie and wife Rosetta Edwards of Chicago, IL, Edward and wife Rosella Edwards of Mineral Springs and Kenneth Stevens of Conyers, GA; five daughters, Tinner and husband Eld. Joe Gaston, Hazel Edards, Mary and husband Samuel Butler and Joyce and husband Michael Block, all of Wilmot, and Dorothy King of Chicago; 42 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 31 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Yearby Edwards; two sons, Calvin and Charlie Walker; his parents, Johnny and Elizabeth Wilson Edwards; two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 14, in the John Wesley A. M. E. Zion Church with Revs. James A. Vault, Theotis Brown and Albert Fenceroy officiating. Grandsons were pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons and trustees of the New Light Baptist Church. Burial followed services at the Jim Smith Cemetery with arrangements by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
