Rayburn B. Chronister, 82, of Russellville, died Friday, April 10, 2009, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center.

He was born September 26, 1926, at Moreland to Hobart Shannon and Thelma Jewel Nowlin Chronister. He was the former owner/operator of Chronister's Grocery at Moreland and was a member of the Gravel Hill Church of Christ and the Moreland Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Bonnie Troutt, Jettie Burris, and Martha Jewel Rickett.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Gerdell Chronister of Russellville; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Harold Chronister of Gravel Hill, Wendell and Ann Chronister of Troy, Missouri, Hobart Chronister Jr. of Fort Smith, Henry and Betty Chronister of Moreland, and Calvin and Phyllis Chronister of Dardanelle; a sister, Earline Simpson of Crow Mountain; and two sisters-in-law, Estelle Sims of Russellville and Edna Dorn of Pottsville.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2009, at Shinn Chapel with Bill and Scott Roderick officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Active pallbearers will be Bill Hale, David Wait, Steve Leavell, Rick Brown, Daryl Byrum, David Talkington, Kenneth Hoffsteter, and David Talkington. Honorary pallbearers will be Amos Hollis, Brad Cobb, Dr. Christopher Barber, Dr. Ben Kriesel, Bill Reams, and the staff of Senior Companions of Russellville.

Memorials may be made to the Gravel Hill Church of Christ, c/o Randy Hollis, 236 Hollis Lane, Russellville, Arkansas 72802.
