Here I was attached to the 81st Infantry, 321st Infantry Regiment. After taking advanced training in the states, we were sent overseas to Guadalcanal, then to New Guinea. We made up the forces for the invasion of the islands of Anguar and Palau. When these two island were taken, we went back to New Caledonia to regroup for the invasion of the Philippines. When the war ended, we were sent into Japan and served as members of the Occupational Forces. I was discharged at Camp Beale, California, on December 20, 1945."
