Over the years, Hurshel Perry was a member of numerous local gospel singing groups, and he sang at many funerals in the area.

Hurshel F. Perry, 92, of Mt. Home, died Tuesday, Feb 15, 2005, at his daughter's home in Highland.
He was born June 9, 1912, in Culp to James and Mary Cathrine Cook Perry. He married Clara Southard May 27, 1940, at Martin Springs. Mr. Perry was a farmer and lived in the area his entire life. He was a member of Promise Keepers International and First Assembly of God Church in Mt. Home.
Mr. Perry is survived by five sons, Thomas Perry of Kansas City, MO, Kenneth Perry of Midway, Gerald David Perry of Mt. Home, Donnie Perry of Gassville and Lonnie Perry of San Benito, Texas; one daughter, Glenda Fay Hackeney of Highland; one brother, Melvin Perry of Oak Ridge, TN; one sister, Gladys Best of Benton; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from noon-9PM Friday at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends form 6-9PM.
A funeral will be 10AM Saturday at First Assembly of God Church in Mt. Home with burial to follow at Galatia Cemetery.
Memorial may be made to Pan Vi Vida Childrens's Home through First Assembly of God or to a favorite charity.
