Manerva Adline Yearry
Daughter of Nancy Bons Lackey Yearry & Young Henry Yearry

August 22 1887--July 20, 1888

She was the eighth child born to Nancy Bons Yearry & Young Henry Yearry. She was nine-days old when her mother died, and she died before reaching her first birthday.

The grave of Manerva Adeline Yearry is one of seven Yearry family graves that is covered with a concrete slab. All of the graves were marked with marble tablet type gravestones, and the death dates ranged from 1887 to 1923. Sometime in the late 1980’s, Mrs. Mae Woodcock Hamlet, a descendant of the Yearry family, worried that someone would dig into the graves. As a result, she arranged to have truckloads of concrete poured into a patio like concrete slab over the graves. The tops of the gravestones protrude from the concrete, but the inscriptions are below the concrete and obscured from view. Mrs. Vera (Lane) Reeves had made a survey of the Galatia Cemetery in 1986, and the data from her survey is what is recorded here.
